WHY WE STAND WITH ISRAEL

If we call ourselves Christians and believe in Jesus, then we believe He is alive today, seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding for us. Jesus is God, but He also came in the flesh as a Jew. He is not disconnected from the Jewish people. He is the Jewish Messiah. That means Christians should never disregard, dismiss, or despise the Jewish people. God’s Word tells us to bless Israel, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and remember that the Jewish people are called the apple of His eye.

God created the Jewish people through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Jacob was renamed Israel, and his twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. The Bible, the prophets, the covenants, and the Messiah all came through the Jewish people. God did not replace the Jews with Christians. Replacement theology is not biblical truth. It is a dangerous lie that has caused great harm throughout history.

Christians and freedom-loving people around the world should understand that Israel is not merely a political issue. Israel is central to biblical history, biblical prophecy, and the unfolding plan of God. The hatred directed against Israel and the Jewish people is not new. It is ancient, spiritual, and destructive. Today that hatred is often repackaged through media bias, misinformation, anti-Zionism, and open antisemitism.

Israel has been persecuted, demonized, and attacked more than any other people, yet the Jewish people have miraculously survived for thousands of years, and Israel was reborn as a nation in 1948. Through the Jewish people, God gave the world the Scriptures. Through the Jewish people came Jesus Christ, our Messiah. Christians owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to Israel and the Jewish people.

Romans 11 teaches that Gentile believers have been grafted into the cultivated olive tree of Israel by faith. We are not to boast against the natural branches. We are not the root. The root supports us. God’s Word warns believers against arrogance toward the Jewish people and reminds us that God is able to graft the natural branches back into their own tree.

For that reason, Christians should reject replacement theology and every teaching that says God is finished with Israel. God has not abandoned His covenant promises. He has not erased the Jewish people from His plan. He has not replaced Israel with the Church. Christians are called to love the Jewish people, bless them, pray for them, and provoke them to jealousy through a living relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob through Messiah Jesus.

So how can you bless Israel? Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Speak the truth when Israel is lied about. Visit Israel and see the miracle for yourself. Buy Israeli products. Encourage your elected leaders to support Israel. Stand against antisemitism and anti-Zionism wherever they appear. Above all, love the Jewish people with the love of Christ.
