Why We Believe in a Pre-Tribulation Rapture and a Literal Millennial Reign of Christ on Earth
At ExtremeTruth.org, we believe the Bible teaches a future sequence of prophetic events consisting of:
- The catching away (rapture) of the Church.
- A seven-year Tribulation period upon the earth.
- The visible Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
- Christ’s literal thousand-year reign on earth.
- A final rebellion and judgment.
- The eternal state.
Our position is based upon a literal, grammatical, and historical interpretation of Scripture.
The Pre-Tribulation Rapture
We believe Jesus Christ will come for His Church before the outpouring of God’s wrath during the Tribulation.
The Apostle Paul describes a future event in which living believers and resurrected saints are caught up together to meet the Lord in the air:
“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air…” (1 Thessalonians 4:17 KJV)
This event differs from Christ’s visible return to earth. At the rapture, believers meet Christ in the air. At His Second Coming, Christ descends to the earth and stands upon the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 14:4; Acts 1:11).
We believe the Church is promised deliverance from God’s coming wrath:
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)
Jesus also promised:
“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world…” (Revelation 3:10)
The Tribulation is repeatedly described as a unique period of divine judgment upon the world and particularly as “the time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), indicating God’s prophetic dealings with Israel rather than the Church.
OK, I’M JUST GOING TO SAY IT: I believe that the Rapture will happen during the Feast of Trumpets. We do not know what year, we do not know what day (it is a two-day feast), and we do not know what hour. So why do I believe this? EVERYTHING that happened to Jesus, happened on a Feast, on the day, and in order. The first four Feasts have been fullfilled. The Last three will be fulfilled at the Rapture, during the Tribulation, and at Chrit’s Second coming and Millenial Reign.
NO, I AM NOT DATE SETTING. Jesus said we will NOT know the day or the hour, only the Father will know, not even the angels or the Son (Himself) will know. Like a Jewish Nazerene wedding. CHECK IT OUT, IT IS MIND BLOWING. TRUTH: FULLFILLED & FUTURE PROPHESY & THE FEASTS.
The Seven-Year Tribulation
We believe the Tribulation corresponds to the final “week” of Daniel’s prophecy:
“And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week…” (Daniel 9:27)
This future seven-year period culminates in unprecedented judgments described throughout Matthew 24, 2 Thessalonians 2, and Revelation chapters 6 through 19.
During this time, God will judge a rebellious world while preparing Israel for her Messiah (Zechariah 12:10; Romans 11:25-27).
The Visible Second Coming of Christ
At the end of the Tribulation, Jesus Christ will return bodily, visibly, and gloriously to earth.
The prophets foretold:
“And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives…” (Zechariah 14:4)
The angels declared:
“This same Jesus… shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11)
John saw Christ’s triumphant return:
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse…” (Revelation 19:11)
At His coming, Christ will defeat the armies gathered against Him and establish His kingdom upon the earth (Revelation 19:19-21).
The Literal Thousand-Year Reign of Christ
We believe Revelation 20 means exactly what it says when it refers six times to a period of one thousand years.
“And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.” (Revelation 20:4)
This kingdom fulfills numerous Old Testament prophecies that have never been completely fulfilled.
Isaiah foretold a time when:
“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb…” (Isaiah 11:6)
And:
“They shall beat their swords into plowshares…” (Isaiah 2:4)
The angel Gabriel promised Mary that Jesus would inherit:
“The throne of his father David.” (Luke 1:32)
Since Christ has never yet ruled from David’s throne in Jerusalem, we believe this promise awaits fulfillment in the Millennial Kingdom.
The covenant promises made to Israel concerning land, nationhood, and kingdom blessings (Genesis 12:1-3; 15:18-21; 2 Samuel 7:12-16; Jeremiah 31:31-37) require a future earthly kingdom under the Messiah.
The Final Rebellion
At the end of the thousand years, Satan will be released for a brief season.
“And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison.” (Revelation 20:7)
Though Christ’s reign will demonstrate perfect righteousness, many born during the Kingdom age will still reject God’s authority in their hearts. Satan will gather these rebels for a final revolt against God.
This rebellion will be immediately crushed by divine judgment:
“And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.” (Revelation 20:9)
Satan will then be cast forever into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10).
The Final Resurrection and Judgment
Following the final rebellion comes the Great White Throne Judgment.
“And I saw a great white throne…” (Revelation 20:11)
The unsaved dead will be raised and judged according to their works.
“And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books…” (Revelation 20:12)
All whose names are not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).
This fulfills Old Testament prophecies concerning the resurrection and final judgment:
“Many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake…” (Daniel 12:2)
Jesus likewise taught:
“All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth…” (John 5:28-29)
The Eternal State
After all judgment is complete, God will create a new heaven and a new earth.
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth…” (Revelation 21:1)
The redeemed will dwell forever in God’s presence, free from sin, sorrow, suffering, and death.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes…” (Revelation 21:4)
Conclusion
We believe a literal interpretation of both Old and New Testament prophecy leads naturally to a pre-tribulation rapture, a future seven-year Tribulation, the visible return of Jesus Christ, a literal thousand-year kingdom on earth, a final rebellion, the resurrection and judgment of the wicked, and ultimately the eternal state. These events demonstrate God’s faithfulness to His promises, His justice toward sin, and His mercy toward all who trust in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
